Portsmouth Neighbors Help Troubled Veteran<\/strong><\/p>\n

Good neighbors came to the aid of a veteran in crisis and officers investigated two reports of kids in danger. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief\u2019s Daily Briefing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Neighbors Come To Aide of Troubled Veteran<\/span><\/h2>\n

Good neighbors came to the aid of a troubled Vietnam Veteran just before 10 am.<\/span><\/p>\n

Police originally responded to a report of a suspicious person walking up and down 12<\/span>th<\/span> Street. When officers arrived on the scene they discovered he was a Vietnam veteran experiencing a flashback.<\/span><\/p>\n

Neighbors arrived while police were speaking with him, and explained that they have been looking after him for years and would take care of him.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Officers thanked them for being good neighbors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Suspicious Activity<\/span><\/h2>\n

  • A Dale Street caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked in the alley just after 10 am. Officer spoke with a man who was staying in a tent in the back of a Valley Street home and parking his vehicle there. Police advised him not to use the alley as it was tearing up a neighbor\u2019s blocks. The homeless man said he\u2019d find a licensed driver to move the vehicle.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Officers responded to the Royal Inn on Kendall at 11 am after a man busted out the window of his girlfriend\u2019s vehicle. She decided to pursue the matter in civil court.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Police responded to a report of an open door at a condemned house on Gallia just after 3 pm. They found the door forced open and a man sitting on the back porch. They advised him to leave. Nobody else was inside the residence.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Children In Danger<\/span><\/h2>\n

    A worried mom contacted police after she received a call from her child\u2019s school saying that the child had made threats to harm themselves but was unable to contact them.\u00a0 CPS was contacted and the child was transported to the hospital by ambulance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Another concerned mom called the police to report her child was possibly being abused at their grandparents\u2019 home. Officers checked in with the family and saw no signs of abuse. The child was living with its father and grandparents and is the subject of an upcoming custody hearing. Police found the home safe and the child well.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Scammed<\/span><\/h2>\n

    A Hudson House resident contacted police to report she\u2019d given a man who\u2019d been calling her as part of a phone scam $4500 over the past year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Officers advised her to stop giving him money.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Wanted Man Swallows Drugs During Arrest<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
