18 Busted in Drug Ring Takedown
Local cops busted a major local drug trafficking organization wide open with a string of indictments and arrests.
Portsmouth Police Chief Debby Brewer and Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman announced that the Scioto County Grand jury returned a 72-count indictment against 18 suspects.
The investigative work was done by the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force, which is made up of narcotics detectives from the PPD and SCSO, as well as FBI agents.
According to court records, the 18 individuals were distributing fentanyl and meth throughout Scioto County. Police seized nearly 4 pounds of meth, along with fentanyl, and five firearms in the course of the investigation.
Law enforcement issued arrest warrants for nine local residents:
- Kristina Creveling, 48, of Portsmouth
- Jay Castelli, 32, of Portsmouth
- George Webster, 48, of Portsmouth
- Shanel Weatherford, 26, of Portsmouth
- George Meade, 27, of Portsmouth
- Elissa Williams, 22, of Portsmouth
- Teresa Boyle, 26, of Portsmouth
- Roger Turner, III, 50, of Wheelersburg, Ohio
- Karen M Green, 46. of Wheelersburg
Nine Dayton residents were also named in the indictments.
Charges included:
- Trafficking in Drugs
- Possession of Drugs
- Engaging in a Pattern of Corrupt Activity
- Conspiracy to Trafficking in Drugs
- Manufacture of Drugs
Police say Boyle is still at large. All other local suspects are behind bars.
