Here are some of our most frequently asked questions. If your question isn’t found below, feel free to contact us.
Will you remove my Mugshot? Can I pay you to take it down?
This is a common question with a very definitive answer.
In 2017, the Ohio Revised Code added a part B to ORC Section 2927.22. It reads as follows: “(B) No person engaged in publishing or otherwise disseminating criminal record information through a print or electronic medium shall negligently solicit or accept from a subject individual the payment of a fee or other consideration to remove, correct, modify, or refrain from publishing or otherwise disseminating criminal record information.”
The term “other consideration” is a catch-all term for favors of any kind.
Therefore, by Ohio Law, we cannot remove a published mugshot.
Why do I have to pay extra for the SCDN Scanner?
We had our MARCS Tower receiving system custom designed just for us. As with most news agencies, the quality and features of the system were intended to remain private. Due to the lack of quality of apps like Broadcasify, we felt that the information should be made available to the public.
The equipment required a significant initial investment, as well as a monthly service fee. Due to this, a small fee is charged. A high-end scanner that costs $800 would not be able to provide as much information both in real-time and in the archives as this scanner. Quite literally, it’s one-of-a-kind.
How do you come up with your articles?
Our content is largely derived from public information requests. Our team spends a lot of time communicating with law enforcement, government agencies, and even local schools.
We dig and investigate.
The public also provides tips to us. Through the years, we have compiled a comprehensive list of public service sources. Our investigative methods rival those of any large, high-budget news organization.
