Two Portsmouth men with 117 arrests between them were both back in trouble with the law and police arrested a suspected stalker. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Bad Boys
- Just before 8 pm, an 11th Street caller reported four kids throwing things at vehicles near Life Point Church. Police caught up with several kids and took one boy home to his father who was not happy to hear how he was behaving and promised to make sure the boy behaved himself.
- A Franklin Avenue caller reported that neighbor kids were egging her Franklin Avenue home just before noon. She said she tried to speak to the parents but could not contact them. An officer said they would attempt to make contact with the parents.
Back Behind Bars
Officers responded to a report of a shirtless man lying in the road on the Scioto Trail just before 9 pm. They took a man with whom they have nearly daily contact into custody for disorderly conduct. This was his 54th arrest. The 9th arrest in the past 90 days. He served less than a day in jail this time.
The next day, callers reported the same man pulling his pants down outside a restaurant on Chillicothe Street. Police noticed a large sore on his arm and arranged for him to be transported to the hospital.
About an hour later, officers responded to a report of a man staggering around at Grant and Park Avenue. Police arrested another man they have frequent contact with for disorderly conduct, this was his 63rd arrest. It was his second arrest in a month’s time. He was released the same day he was arrested.
Both men are known to suffer from mental health issues.
Under the Influence
Officer responded to Wayne Hills for a report that a man was selling drugs from an apartment and also had open warrants. Police took the man into custody for open warrants.
Xbox Incident
Just before midnight, police responded to a disturbance call on Sunrise Avenue. Police spoke to a woman who explained that she told her foster child to stop playing the Xbox and the boy argued with her a bit before giving up and going outside to sit for a while. Then he went to bed.
Police aid everything was okay.
Ex at the Door
A Mabert Road Caller contacted police just after midnight to report her ex showed up at 12:37 am to beat on her door and steal her phone.
Police told her to call back if he returned.
Suspicious Activity
A Robinson Avenue caller told police someone was messing with her vehicle and asked police to check on it. An officer looked at the car at 12:42 am but noted no damage, though it appeared a tire was flat from lack of use.
Stalked on 7th Street
A 7th Street caller told police a man had been stalking her for several months, following her from Wayne Hill and also attempting to call her on Facebook. Police suggested she file a protection order.
Officers discovered the man had open warrants and took him into custody.
Hey, That’s My Stuff
At 2:30 am, a Rally’s employee called the police to report their bike was stolen while they were working. Officers gave the worker a ride home and took information for a report.
Under the Influence
Just before 7 am, a Gallia Street caller reported an apparently high man in a black hoodie messing around with the kiosk at the Magic Tunnel Car Wash. Officers were unable to locate him.
Run Off the Road
A woman claimed another driver ran her off the road and into a ditch on Dorman Drive just after 11 am. There was minor damage to her car.
