Tragedy unfolded as a 27-year-old man was discovered deceased after dealing with what appeared to be a cold.
Just after 4:30 pm, officers and EMS responded to a home after a family reported an unresponsive man. Medics determined the man was deceased.
The man’s family said he’d come home the day before with a cough and that family members had given him cold medicine and Ibuprofen and put him to bed.

They had believed he was sleeping in the morning, but when they came home from work, they found him unresponsive and cold.
Chesapeake officers notified the Lawrence County coroner and a local funeral home. Despite the unusual circumstances surrounding this death, the record does not reflect any further investigation.
