3 Separate Kidnapping Calls. What’s Going On?

This year, we have covered a handful of Kidnapping stories. Suddenly, we have three. This is highly unusual and disturbing.

Kidnap Attempt Reported on Campbell Avenue

Just after 3 pm, Portsmouth Police responded to a report that two armed men had dragged a woman and dragged her out of an apartment and into a red car on Campbell Avenue.

A few minutes later, a caller reported seeing a woman flee from a red car just down the block.

When officers arrived at the scene, the woman said that a man had grabbed and dragged her, but that he did not have a gun.

The woman said the assailant was an ex-boyfriend. She refused to cooperate with officers and said she did not want to press charges.

Witnesses Report Kidnapping at Wendy’s

Multiple bystanders reported what appeared to be a kidnapping just after 10 pm. They said the incident started at the Wendy’s on Gallia, and they saw a man force a woman into a silver sedan and take off.

One of the callers followed the vehicle to the Grant Bridge. Officers pulled the vehicle over and took information for a report. After getting a statement, they took the woman to the Holiday Inn. No arrests were made in this incident.

Woman Reports Being Drugged and Kidnapped

A woman called 9-1-1 at 7 am to report an abduction. When officers responded to Junior Furnace- Powell Road, she told them two people abducted her the night before and injected her with drugs.

She told officers she was able to escape her captors and requested an ambulance.

Officers said it was difficult to get a description of where the kidnapping had happened because the witness appeared to be under the influence. However, they searched the area she described in an attempt to locate the suspect vehicle.

This investigation is ongoing.
