ODH COVID-19 Report Wrong

According to updated numbers from the Ohio Department of Health’s COVID-19 Dashboard, Scioto County is now reporting four cases of COVID-19. However, Scioto County EMA Deputy Director Larry Mullins says that number is a mistake and there are only 3 confirmed cases in the county. He did not say how the mistake was made. This erroneous case was reported in Saturday afternoon’s 2 pm case update on the state’s website.

None of the Scioto County patients are hospitalized with the virus.

As Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton is fond of reminding people, these statistics are a “gross underestimation” of the the actual number of people with Coronavirus. Most people with the illness will not be tested or even have symptoms severe enough to required treatment beyond taking some Tylenol and resting at home during self-quarantine.
