Someone made off with a $60,000 work truck from a trucking company’s parking lot overnight, leaving the owner wondering how a heavy-duty dually pickup simply disappeared without a trace.
Deputies were called after a man returned from his overnight trucking route and discovered his personal pickup truck was gone.
According to the report, the truck had been parked at his workplace before he left for work the previous day.
When he finished his route and returned during the early morning hours, the parking space where he had left the vehicle was empty.
The theft occurred at a trucking company in the Proctorville area.
The owner told deputies he had parked his blue 2019 Ford F-450 XL four-wheel-drive dually in the company lot before beginning his shift driving a semi.
He said the truck disappeared sometime during his workday while he was away on his assigned route.
A coworker confirmed seeing the truck parked in the lot earlier that afternoon before leaving work around 2 p.m.
By approximately 2:30 a.m. the following morning, it was gone.
According to the report, neither the owner nor his coworker had any idea who may have taken the truck or where it might be.
Investigators also confirmed the truck’s keys had not been left inside the vehicle.
The owner told deputies the pickup is financed through Huntington Bank with roughly $8,000 remaining on the loan.
He also advised payments were current, and deputies confirmed there was no record indicating the vehicle had been repossessed.
The stolen pickup—a blue 2019 Ford F-450 XL dually—was valued at approximately $60,000.
Deputies entered the truck into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as a stolen vehicle, making it searchable by law enforcement agencies nationwide.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Heavy-Duty Trucks Are Frequent Targets
Heavy-duty pickups like Ford F-350 and F-450 trucks are attractive targets for thieves because they command high resale prices and their parts are valuable.
Investigators recommend owners park in well-lit areas, use steering wheel locks or GPS tracking devices, and consider aftermarket immobilizers to make theft more difficult.
Anyone with information about the stolen truck is encouraged to contact the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
