A 67-year-old Minford man has been arrested and charged with multiple first-degree felony counts of rape following an investigation by the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Sheriff David Thoroughman, deputies were contacted on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, after a mother reported that her six-year-old child disclosed being sexually assaulted. A deputy responded to the complaint and initiated an investigation, which was later turned over to detectives.
As part of the investigation, the child was taken to Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe for evaluation and treatment. The child was treated and later released.
Sheriff Thoroughman said detectives interviewed the suspect on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office. Following that interview, the suspect was arrested.
Jeffrey Lee Gilliland, 67, of Minford, Ohio, has been charged with seven counts of rape, all first-degree felonies. He is currently being held in the Scioto County Jail on a $700,000 bond. Gilliland is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Friday, January 30, 2026.
