According to Licking County Humane Society, 80 dogs are being removed from a Newark home.

Since many of the dogs require hospitalization, they cannot be adopted.

The program director, Elycia Taylor, said that all the dogs, including the newborn puppies, arrived with severe flea infestations.

Additionally, 41 kittens and cats were taken in over the last few days.

According to Taylor, this is the largest number of dogs and puppies they have ever handled at once.

A no-kill shelter, LCHS relies heavily on donations.

The humane society was packed with animal lovers over the weekend, and according to Taylor, many have been unable to take the dogs.

According to Taylor, the dogs can’t go home with their owners until they receive treatment.

Taylor estimates that the dogs when fully recovered, will cost $4,000.
