$80,000 Study to Review Scioto County Road Signs

$80,000 study to review Scioto County Road signs

The study will cover the entire 411 miles of county highways

A new study aims to make sure the roads in Scioto County are safe. County Commissioners passed a resolution allowing the County Engineer to work with the Ohio Department of Transportation on a county-wide highway safety study. The study will cost an estimated $79,260. According to Commissioner Bryan Davis, 90% of the project cost will be paid for by the County Engineers Association of Ohio. They’ll pay up to a maximum of $71,000 depending on the cost of the study.

The study will cover the entire 411 miles of county highways and look for things like guardrails and highway signs to make sure there are adequate safety measures in place.

“They’ll be checking county highways, which is anything our county engineer is responsible for,” Davis said.

“They’ll make sure we have enough safety signage and that things are the way they should be. It’s a great win. It’s an extensive study.” He went on to say that he couldn’t imagine the amount of work that would go into covering all 411 miles. “I have a feeling that someone is going to be here for a while.”
