An 84-year-old man was kidnapped and beaten by an attacker on Monday night and officers are hunting for the creep that did it.
According to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, the 9-1-1 call came in just after 11 pm on Monday night. A woman called from a Highland Bend Road home and said that an elderly man had shown up at her door saying that he’d been robbed and beaten.
When detectives arrived on the scene, the victim told them that he’d come home to his house on Dixon Mill Road around 7:30 pm and discovered a man inside. The suspect demanded money and then dragged the victim to the basement where he was tied up, blindfolded, and beaten. According to the victim, his attacker appeared to be on drugs.
The victim was able to get loose and tried to escape, only to find that the man was still in the house. The attacker continued to assault his elderly victim.
The lowlife then forced the old man into the trunk of his own vehicle, a white 1999 Oldsmobile, and drove him to the Highland Bend Road area. In addition to being a bad human being, the suspect appears to also be a bad driver, since he managed to drive the vehicle into a creek.
His elderly victim was trapped in the trunk for some time but was eventually able to escape and walk to a nearby home. He was taken to SOMC for treatment and later released.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Detective Jodi Conkel at 740-351-1091. all calls will remain anonymous.
