We’ve been covering the continuing issue with trespassers, vagrants, and addicts at the Speedway on Gallia. The problem is so far out of hand that a representative of Speedway corporate even contacted Portsmouth Police about this issue.
However, the issues still persist. Just after midnight, the store reported that a woman was on their lot harassing customers. The caller said the man was previously barred from the property back in 2020.
The man was described as wearing a cowboy hat and jeans. By the time officers arrived, he had left the area.
At 2 am, officers were alerted to a possible overdose in the same area. A citizen flagged police down to report a man overdosing at the corner of Gallia and Kendall. Officers said the man seemed to be lucid by the time they arrived on the scene.
Speedway employees called officers back to the store at 10 pm the following evening to report a man slumped over by the front door asking people for money. Officers took the man into custody for disorderly conduct. This was his second arrest in the past month and his fifth arrest in the past year.
