In recent months, officers have frequently had to evict people who set up housekeeping at the post office. Now, it looks as if police are cracking down on the campers.
Back in February, officers arrested a man after a group camping at the post office got into a fight over cigarettes. Officers also responded to a report of a half-naked man scrubbing his feet at the Post Office shortly before that.
Last month, a troubled homeless woman who frequently attempts to set up camp at the Post Office tied both doors to the lobby shut with clothing and only let officers in when they threatened to arrest her.
However, it looks as if things are about to change. Just before 9 pm, an officer stopped by the lobby and spoke to a man who was loitering inside.
The officer told him to leave and advised him to spread the word to his fellow lobby campers that police would be checking the lobby frequently and loitering would no longer be tolerated.
