CPS Called In For Smelly Car
A traffic stop at Gallia and Maple Ct. led to a call to CPS just before 8 pm.
Deputies said three small children were passengers in the vehicle, which they said strongly smelled of marijuana. They also discovered the driver had a suspended license and fake tags on the vehicle.
They contacted CPS, who allowed them to release the children to their grandparents. They cited the driver but allowed a person with a valid driver to take the vehicle.
Officers Investigate Crying Babies
Just before 9 am, officers responded to a Robinson Avenue apartment for a report that two babies had been crying for over an hour.
When police arrived on the scene, they heard two small children crying inside the apartment. An officer knocked several times before a woman came to the door.
She explained she was sleeping heavily because she’d had a long night. She explained one child was hers and that she was babysitting the other two.
Officers spoke to the mother of the children she was watching on the phone. She said she was shopping at Walmart and that the babysitter was awake when she left the house. An officer explained that apartment management said the children were crying for over an hour and, at one point tried to leave the apartment.
However, officers noted that the children did not appear to be abused or neglected. However, they did contact CPS so they could follow up on the incident.
