Several agencies teamed up to come to the aid of a dog in distress. It all started when a St. Rt. 140 resident reported a dog tied up in the woods across the road with no shelter.
When officers arrived on the scene, they learned the dog belonged to a homeless person who had tied it up there. There was a bowl of food in place, but a short chain kept the dog from reaching it, and the deputy said the animal’s ribs were showing.
Officers learned the owner of the property had no idea the dog was tied up there. Deputies called for the Dog Warden, who told them to call a humane agent.
An agent from Sierra’s Haven came to take custody of the dog.
