A man accused of holding a woman against her will in a camper and raping her has appeared in court and is scheduled to return for a preliminary hearing on September 28.
Ryan Fuller was arrested after a woman told Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies that he had kept her in his camper for days, physically assaulted her and raped her. Fuller denied the allegations and was booked into jail on domestic violence and rape charges.
Fuller has a previous arrest history that includes escape, felonious assault, domestic violence and failure to register as a sex offender. He has also been arrested for failure to restrain dogs. Those arrests are separate from the current case; the information provided does not establish how each was resolved.
Woman Found Along Roadside
The current case began when a woman called dispatch and reported that her boyfriend had held her against her will and assaulted her. EMS and police found her sitting on a guardrail near the 13-mile marker.
She told deputies she had been dating Fuller for about two weeks and that he had prevented her from leaving his camper throughout the week. She alleged that he physically assaulted her and raped her that morning, causing her to bleed.
A deputy took her statement and photographed her injuries before EMS transported her to a hospital.
Officers then went to Fuller’s camper. He denied the allegations and claimed the woman had assaulted him. During transport to jail, Fuller acknowledged having sexual contact with her that morning but maintained that she had asked him to hold her wrists.
He was booked on domestic violence and rape charges.
2015 Arrest Followed Attack on Father, Police Say
Fuller was also arrested in 2015 after deputies said he attacked his father, stole his car and fled across state lines into Huntington, West Virginia.
According to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office account of that incident, deputies found Fuller’s father lying on the ground with injuries to his head and face. His father told investigators that Fuller had beaten him with a metal yard anchor before taking his vehicle.
The father was transported to a Huntington hospital and placed in intensive care.
The information available about the 2015 incident describes the arrest and allegations but does not establish the final disposition of that case.
Fuller’s preliminary hearing in the current rape and domestic violence case is scheduled for September 28. The charges remain allegations unless and until proven in court.
