It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ajay Michael Stiles, a young vibrant soul who left this world too soon. Ajay, aged 17, of Minford, OH, departed to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH. Born on May 9, 2006, in Portsmouth, he was the beloved son of Vincent and Tara (Day) Stiles.
Ajay is survived by his grieving parents and his brother, Chase Stiles, who shared countless memories with him. In addition, he is survived by his grandmother, Nancy McKenzie, and Ajay’s one true love and best friend, Cheyanne Mattox, who is left with a void that cannot be filled.
He leaves behind aunts and uncles who loved him dearly and held a special place in his heart: Misty (Ryan) Hawk, Christy (Brandon) Callihan, Brian Stiles, Tina Charles, and Dina Cook. His cousins, Kenzie and Avery Hawk who loved him like a brother, Keri Callihan, Katelynn Callihan, Sierra (Ethan) Carpenter, Austin Cook, Jessica Charles, Clair Ratliff, Bailey Mingus, and Nancy Stiles, who all share in the grief of losing such a remarkable young man.
Ajay was a senior at Minford High School and was a shining star in the community. An exceptional trumpet player and field commander for the Mighty Minford Falcons Marching Band, he showcased his musical talents with passion and dedication. He also pursued his artistic side as a theater student at Minford, most recently starring as the Beast in their production of Beauty & the Beast.
His academic excellence was evident through his membership in the National Honor Society, Morehead Honors Band, Ohio University Honors Band, Morehead Chorus Festival, and All County and All District Band. Ajay was not only a scholar but also a talented athlete, contributing to the tennis team at Minford High School.
Ajay’s disciplined approach to life was complemented by his unwavering character. His love for God was profound, and he was an active member of Rubyville Community Church, where he lent his voice to the choir and participated in the vibrant youth program. He has left a witness for the Lord that has already impacted many lives.
Words fall short in describing the incredible impact Ajay had on his family, friends, church, and community. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the heavenly melodies he once played on his trumpet.
Visitation for Ajay’s family will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 10 am to 1 pm at Rubyville Community Church in Rubyville, Ohio.
