Alfred Bricker Sr., 84, of West Portsmouth died Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at his home. He was born April 2, 1941, in Portsmouth to the late Charles and Dorothy (Mershon) Bricker Sr.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Breech Bricker, whom he married on November 9, 1961; two brothers, Charles “Bud” Bricker, Jr. and Richard Bricker; a sister, Doris Brickey and a son in law, Brian Curtis.
Alfred was a proud United States Army veteran and was an active member of the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. He worked many years on the river and retired as a deckhand for Oglebay Norton. Above all, Alfred loved his family, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
He is survived by three children, Cherie (Brian) Curtis, Cathy (Chuck) Graf, and Alfred (Nannette) Bricker II, all of West Portsmouth; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Tara) Curtis, Cassie (Aaron) Frump, Ashley Bricker (Michael Roark), Charlee (Tommy) Austin, Alfred (Shelby) Bricker III, Christin (Jeremy) Blankenship, Tyler Curtis, Adam (Kelsi) Bricker, and Breanna Bricker (Brennan Bauer); and great-grandchildren, Cason Frump, Jagger Frump, Cooper Frump, Knox Austin, Everlee Grace Austin, Ashlyn Roark, M.J. Roark, Ellie Bricker, Kannon Bricker, Boone Bricker, Blakely Bricker, Baker Blankenship, Bristol Blankenship, and Baylor Blankenship.
Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, December 5, 2025, at Scioto Burial Park in McDermott, with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery starting at 2:30. Arrangements are under the direction of the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth.
