Alvin (Al) Hugh Sanford, 83, of Minford, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at SOMC surrounded by family. He was born March 17, 1942 in Canton, Ohio, a son of the late Clarence and Lora (Bates) Sanford. Al was a professional bowler and a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Pat, and a loving father, grandfather, and friend.
Al traveled on the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour with his family, visiting national parks, and gold prospecting. In later years, Al and Pat spent time prospecting in California and Arizona each winter.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia “Pat” (Czubernat) Sanford; five daughters, Susie (Dan) Tyler, Lisa (Jay) Wallace, Christine (Lee) Powell, Elizabeth (Scott) Schaar, Amanda (Nick) Kelsch; two sons, Eric (Maggie) Sanford, Douglas (Denise) Sanford;15 grandchildren, Tessa, Kirby, Mason, Cecelia, Bethany, Alex, Jenna, Avery, Claudia, Jessa, Owen, Lily, Gallagher, Addis, Brandon; seven great grandchildren; one brother, and one sister. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother.
