Turns out the five-year-old was fibbing. Dad was actually just using the bathroom. Mom arrived home while the police were there. Officers said reports of endangered kids were unfounded.

Animals Abandoned on Brunner, Officer Unable To Help

A concerned Brunner Avenue neighbor called the police just after 7 pm. They reported a man moved away and left three cats and two dogs alone without food or water and that the house had no heat or electricity.

The officer could hear at least one dog inside the home but could not make contact with anyone inside. But since a dog is considered property under the law, the officer could not enter the house.

The officer contacted animal control and Code Enforcement.
