Anita Carol Williams, 84, of West Portsmouth, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at SOMC. She was born on February 3, 1942, in Portsmouth, the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson “A.J.” and Violet Glispie Maxie.
She married Larry Randall Williams in Portsmouth on August 20, 1960, in Portsmouth. He preceded her in death on October 8, 2025, after 65 years of marriage.
Anita graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1960 and Paramount Beauty Academy, where she later became an instructor. She owned Anita’s Little Hair House in Wheelersburg for many years, worked ten years at Marting’s Department Store, and was a realtor with the John Estepp Realty office. Anita enjoyed time outside caring for her garden and trees, spending time with her dogs, and attending her grandchildren’s events. She previously sang in the Mabert Road Baptist Church choir and served as a Girl Scout leader.
Anita and Larry were blessed with two children, Angela Crystal Murphy of West Portsmouth; and the late Larry Kevin Williams.
Surviving is her daughter, Angela; Tammy Johnston, fiancee’ of Kevin of Middletown; a sister, Beverly Wood of Deltona, FL; grandchildren Kevin (Samantha) Williams, Kyle (Chelsea) Williams, and Sean (Savannah) Murphy; great-grandchildren, Kadence and Scarlett Williams, Haylin, Calliope and Carson Murphy; and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Anita was also preceded in death by three brothers, Othel, Carlos and Earl Maxie; and four sisters, Esther Smith, Thelma Mott, Delma Coble and Rosalie Tackett.
