Another local school has scored a $5,000 win in T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights program.
Sciotoville East High School announced that it was named a $5K Fridays winner in week five of the national program, thanks to community support and Tartan pride.
“We have won $5000, now let’s go for the million!” the school posted.
This is the second big local win in the program this year. Minford High School was previously named one of the first 2026 $5K Fridays winners back in August.
The Friday Night 5G Lights program is a national T-Mobile competition built around high school football, school spirit, and small-town pride.
High schools in U.S. towns with populations under 150,000 can apply. School officials, including teachers, coaches, or administrators, submit an entry explaining why their school deserves a football field transformation.
But schools do not have to win the whole thing to get money.
T-Mobile says 1,000 schools will win $5,000 through weekly $5K Fridays sweepstakes. The money can be used by schools for the programs that need it most, including academics, athletics, or the broader school community.
There is also much more on the line.
The program is offering more than $8.4 million in total prizes this year, including $25,000 for division finalists, $250,000 for division champions, a Gronk Fitness gym, student leadership prizes, and a grand prize football field upgrade valued at $1 million.
That is why Sciotoville East is asking the community to keep the momentum going.
Supporters can help by posting on social media, tagging Sciotoville East High School and T-Mobile, and using the hashtags #FN5GL and #Entry.
According to T-Mobile, eligible social media posts can count as additional sweepstakes entries.
The program also includes a public voting phase later this fall for schools that make it into the finalist rounds.
Public voting runs from Oct. 8 through Oct. 25, with the final four schools moving on to another voting round from Oct. 29 through Nov. 8. The grand prize winner is expected to be announced Nov. 12.
For local schools, even a $5,000 win is a big deal.
For smaller districts, that money can help support teams, classrooms, school activities, equipment, facilities, or other needs that often depend on tight budgets and community support.
And now two Scioto County-area schools have already cashed in.
Minford got an early win.
Now Sciotoville East has one too.
The next goal is bigger: rally the community, keep posting, keep entering, and try to push a local school toward the million-dollar prize.
