Ashley Nicole Lavey, 30 of Portsmouth

Ashley Nicole Lavey

Ashley Nicole Lavey, 30, beloved daughter of Suzanne Nicole and Trent Lee Marcum, died on October 11, 2025, at SOMC. Born November 22, 1994, in Columbus, Ashley was known for her infectious smile and joyful spirit.

She graduated from Vern Riffe School, where she had been a cheerleader for Hardwood Heroes and the Special Olympics. She worked for several years at Star Workshop and was currently attending there several days a week. She was a prankster who knew how to outwit her family and friends to get extra treats, hugs, and sweet snacks. She loved everyone she met and wanted to know what was happening in her neighborhood. And, being the social butterfly that she was, she was always on top of it all. Ashley was the “Girliest of Girls’ who enjoyed new clothes (especially anything pink) and getting her hair and nails done. She also liked getting scared, eating more than seemed possible, and Mountain Dew.

Surviving are her parents, Suzanne Nicole (nee Newsome) and Trent Lee Marcum of Lucasville; three sisters, Kacey Hampton of Portsmouth; Mackenzie Newlan of San Antonio, TX, and Brittany Marcum of Latham; her maternal grandmother, Candy (Al) Mueller of Columbus; uncle, Chris (Dawn) Jones of Cave Junction, OR; her “baby”, niece, Addison Sexton, with whom she had a special bond; special caregiver and bestie, Doreen Branyord; her extended family at Vern Riffe School and Star Workshop; and the wonderful staff of Bernita Corporation who treated Ashley as a member of the family.
