Back to School Shoplifting Goes Terribly Wrong

Monica Fancis

New Boston Police responded to a report that a person was seen putting shoes in an oversized bag at Shoe Sensation on Wednesday evening.

The female reportedly dumped the stolen property in the parking lot of Rural King. She was soon located by New Boston police near the Rent-A-Center and detained.

Initially, the officer had some compassion for the situation and offered to return the shoes in the hopes that the store manager would accept them and drop the charges.

The plan was soon derailed when it was discovered that she had an expired driver’s license and an outstanding warrant from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Department.

Monica Francis was taken into custody.

Francis has been arrested on 10 previous occasions. Those charges include several probation violations, other charges for theft, several charges of driving without a license, as well as drug charges. In 2019, Francis was charged with felony drug trafficking.
