A woman contacted Portsmouth Police to report that an unreliable friend had made off with her rent money.
She told officers that for two months in a row, she’d given a friend money purchase money orders for her to pay her rent and other bills.

Both times, the friend said someone stole the money from her. Now the friend is refusing to return phone calls.
Officers advised her that since she willingly handed over the cash, it was a civil matter and she’d have to take the friend to court.
