Officers were called to Frank & Steins Lounge after the bar manager requested help barring a man she said was causing problems and had threatened staff with violence.
According to police, the manager told officers the man is known to carry a weapon and had been asked to leave earlier. While she wasn’t sure whether he was still nearby, staff pointed out a white Suburban parked out front that had been there since the man was told to go.
By the time officers arrived, the man was gone.
Why He Wasn’t Barred—Yet
Bar staff told police they do not want the man back, but because he was no longer on scene, officers were unable to complete a no-trespass/barred notice at that time. Police advised staff to call immediately if the man returns, at which point officers can attempt to formally bar him from the property.
The incident was documented by the Portsmouth Police Department, and staff were reminded to report any further issues right away.
The Takeaway
No-trespass orders typically require the person to be present and notified. When someone leaves before police arrive, businesses are often left waiting—until the next encounter.
For now, bar staff say the message is clear: don’t come back—and if he does, police will be called.
