Barbara Eileen Jones, 77, of Piketon, Ohio passed away Monday, January 6, 2025 at her home. She was born May 26, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Opal Taylor. Surviving are her children, Serah Jones, Homer Nelson, Paul Westervelt and Jim Westervelt; grandchildren, Barb (Brett) Stewart, Robert Westervelt III, Colby Westervelt and Kyle Westervelt; and a great-grandchild, Brielle Stewart. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Max Jones and a son, Robert Westervelt.
Barbara had a true passion for writing poetry, a reflection of her beautiful soul and her boundless love for family and friends. She found immense joy in simple pleasures of bird watching and nurturing her plants, always surrounding herself with nature’s beauty. With an open heart and an extraordinary gift for building connections, she turned strangers into friends and brought countless moments of joy to those around her. Though she will be profoundly missed, her spirit and memory will forever remain in our hearts, uplifting and inspiring us to cherish life and strive to be better versions of ourselves.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2024 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly. Burial will follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery on Denver Rd. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
