We’ve been reporting on incidents of innocent citizens attacked by shooters with BB guns, gel guns, and paintball guns, and now the BB gun bandits are at it again. They previously targeted pregnant women, the elderly, and the disabled, but in this most recent issue, they went after some kids near Mound Park.
A mom contacted PPD at 7:30 pm to say her son and friends were at the park when three vehicles pulled up and began shooting at them with a gel gun.
She said that the kids ran away and that one of them was hit. Officers said they informed the mom that it would be very difficult to identify all of the people in the vehicles and determine which one hit the child.
Portsmouth Police Chief Debby Brewer told SCDN that she is very concerned that an armed citizen may retaliate. Police are actively trying to curtail this issue before it turns into an irreversible catastrophe.
