Beatrice (Bea) Laverne Hempill went to her heavenly home on March 7, 2026. She was born on April 19, 1936, to Sam & Marie Fitzwater Wright. She had 7 siblings: Barbara, Robert, Charlotte, Jerre, Steve, David and Constance. The family spent their early years living in Stockdale, Ohio and later moving to Wheelersburg, Ohio.
Bea graduated from Wheelersburg High School in 1954 where she was a WHS Queen Attendant. Soon afterwards, she married Lon Keith Hempill and moved to Rigrish Addition to start their family having four children: Brian, James (Randy), Lon Jr. (Keith) and Barry.
Bea’s career started at Williams Shoe factory in Portsmouth, Ohio. Later, she worked for Marting’s Department store. Her longest employment was with Rinks Department store in Wheelersburg, Ohio. She also worked as a Nurse’s Aid for Best Care Nursing home before retiring.
Bea enjoyed bowling. She competed in the Goodyear bowling league at Sunset Lanes for many years. She also enjoyed Bluegrass music and attended several Bluegrass events in the region. She was a member of the Porter of 55 club and enjoyed the fellowship the club offered. She also enjoyed taking bus tours and cruises with her sisters and friends to California, Alaska and Nova Scotia.
She is survived by two sons Brian (Portsmouth, OH) & Barry (Pinehurst, NC), a sister Contance Straight (Grove City, OH.) and two brothers David Wright (Stanley, VA) & Steve Wright (Mechanicsville, VA).
She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Randy & Keith, a grandson Tommy Hempill, 3 sisters Charlotte, Barbara & Jerre, a husband Lon, a brother Robert and a special friend Ron Penix.
The family thanks the care team provided by Hospice, the Area Agency on Aging and especially Regina, who provided her home care. A celebration of life will be scheduled in the coming weeks.
