Bert Nile Deems, 80, of South Shore, KY., passed away Friday, November 29, 2024, in Portsmouth, OH. He was born in Portsmouth, OH., on Nov 29, 1944, a son of the late Edgar and Lois (Butterfield) Deems.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Allen (Bunk) Deems, and two sisters, Linda Ketter and Lois Beckham.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years Janet Sue (Craycraft) Deems; four sons, Kevin Deems, Ronald (Elsa) Deems, Chuck (Trish) Deems, all of Dickson, TN; Mark Deems of Naples, FL; one daughter, Shannon (Justin) Middleton of Greenup, KY; one sister, Carol (Jim) Ridout; ten grandchildren, Zachery Deems, Amber Deems, Veronica Deems, Brandi Deems, Rylee Deems, Samantha Deems, Ella Deems, Jamarcus, Lenile Deems, Kenzell Deems, and Lyla Middleton, and six great-grandchildren. and several other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
Bert was always the first person to hug and give his family a kiss when visiting. You could count on him anytime to help with luggage or whatever it may be. He was always cracking jokes and loved to make people laugh. Bert had a sweet tooth and he never missed his daily ice cream treat. His family will never forget the way he continued to wave goodbye until they were out of sight. Bert’s obvious love for his wife, Janet, was like no other. The memories of Bert and his family will never be forgotten.
Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with Bernie Parsons and Keith Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, KY. Visitation will be Monday at the funeral home from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M.
