Betty Ineze Williams Murphy, 79, of South Shore, KY, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Wurtland Nursing & Rehab in Wurtland, KY. She was born in Malonton, KY, on June 16, 1947, the daughter of the late George Williams SR and Elizabeth Smith Williams Munn.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a homemaker and also a huge fan of University of Kentucky Basketball and Elvis Presley. She was always at her happiest when she was able to help others, regardless of what it involved. She was also a woman of great faith and was a member of Allen Chapel Church of Christ.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Thomas Murphy; one brother and sister-in-law, Ralph (Mary) Williams; and one sister and brother-in-law, Ruby (Wells) Parker.
Left behind to cherish her memory are one daughter, Melissa (Barry) Brown of South Shore, KY; two granddaughters, Emily (Jason) VanBibber of Greenup, KY, and Becca (Tyler) Darnell of Wheelersburg, OH; two great-grandsons, Carter VanBibber and Connor VanBibber, both of Greenup, KY; one brother, George (Peggy) Williams JR of South Shore, KY; one sister, Christine (Harold) Dupuy of South Shore, KY, and several other family and friends who will sadly miss her.
A memorial service will be at 1 P.M. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY, with Mike Dennis officiating. Inurnment will follow at Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd, KY. A Gathering of friends and family will be on Thursday at the funeral home from 12 P.M. until the service hour.
