Betty Jean McGraw 88, of West Portsmouth, went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, December 20, 2023. Our comfort is knowing her joy as she is reunited with her loved ones and Heavenly Father She was born September 30, 1935 to the late Stephen Howell and Betty Campbell Howell.
Jean was retired from Harold’s Restaurant, where she worked for many years. She also worked at the Elks Country Club. She was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church, where she volunteered for many years in the nursery and kitchen serving others. Jean had a great testimony and love for her Lord. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.
After retirement, Jean enjoyed going to yard sales and the flea market to fill her antique booth. For several years Jean volunteered at the “New To You “ thrift store.
After Jean’s beloved husband of 62 years, Clyde passed away, she got her dog “Hope” who has faithfully been by her side.
Along with her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Leroy McGraw, whom she married on April 26, 1954 sons; Barry McGraw, Steve McGraw and Brian McGraw, a brother Ron Howell and a great grandson Jayson McGraw.
Jean is survived by a son, Randy (Gwen) McGraw, a daughter, Cindy (Keith) Enyart, half-sister Kimmy and half-brother Shannon, 11 grandchildren: Paul Hackworth, Steven McGraw, Randy McGraw Jr., Jennifer Mullens, Amanda Strait, Brandon Enyart, Megan Bryce, Brian McGraw Jr., Jayson McGraw, Ashley Charlton and Miracal McGraw along with 16 great-grandchildren and many friends.
The family would especially like to thank the wonderful staff at SOMC Hospice for their dedication, care, and love for our mom.
