The Village of New Boston is asking residents to keep their eyes peeled for an unusual missing item: a Bigfoot Christmas light display stolen right out of Millbrook Park.

In a post that immediately lit up social media, the village announced:

“Keep an eye out for Bigfoot in New Boston! The Bigfoot Christmas light decoration has been stolen from Millbrook Park. If you find it, or have any information, please contact the New Boston Police Department at 740-456-4109.”

Residents quickly chimed in with outrage — and a few jokes.
“I live close by the park and I thought it was stolen when I saw it was gone,” one commenter wrote. “People are ridiculous.”

But stealing a holiday Bigfoot isn’t just ridiculous — around here, it’s practically sacrilege.

Bigfoot Is Kind of a Big Deal Around Southern Ohio

From Salt Fork to Shawnee Forest, the legend of Sasquatch is woven deep into Ohio folklore. Scioto County itself has its own share of sightings, stories… and yes, arguments.

Earlier this year, you may remember, an argument about Bigfoot at the Portsmouth Burger King escalated so dramatically that police were called to break it up. Officers had to step in and calm the combatants before things got hairier than the creature they were arguing about.

And every fall, thousands flock to the region’s Bigfoot festivals — complete with merch, lectures, walking tours, and more fuzzy-footed fanfare than you can shake a tree limb at.

So, stealing a beloved holiday Bigfoot?
That’s basically like knocking over Frosty, the Grinch, and Clark Griswold’s entire front yard — all rolled into one.

Why Steal Bigfoot?

Decorations disappear every year, but community displays usually stay safe thanks to neighborhood pride and extra eyes on the park.

This time, someone apparently decided Bigfoot needed a new home.

Whether it was a prank, a dare, or someone building the most chaotic Christmas display in Scioto County history, police want it returned — no questions asked.

Bigfoot Belongs to All of Us

Holiday displays bring joy to the community — especially the quirky ones. Bigfoot was a fan favorite, and folks want him back where he belongs: glowing proudly in Millbrook Park.

Until then, keep your eyes open.

Because somewhere out there in New Boston…a Christmas Bigfoot is on the loose.
