Bizarre Kidnapping Report Mabert Road

Worried parents contacted Portsmouth Police just after noon to say they received a report their daughter had been kidnapped and the kidnappers had demanded $1,000.

When police went to check on the woman, they found she had not been kidnapped, however, she had been the victim of another crime – her wallet had been stolen.

Police took information for a theft report.

Unconscious at Burger King

Officers at EMS responded to Burger King just before 1 pm on Sunday after a caller reported two men passed out inside a vehicle in the parking lot.

Police took one man into custody but ended up calling an ambulance to transport him to SOMC for treatment. Police said they would pursue charges at another date. As the other man in the vehicle didn’t appear to be under the influence, officers released him.

At 7:38 pm, witnesses reported a blonde man staggering in and out of the road in front of the restaurant. They said he appeared to be heavily intoxicated. Officers were unable to locate him.

Discount Store Drama

Bargain stores had their hands full with unruly customers on Sunday afternoon.

Just before 2:30 pm, an employee of the Dollar General on Harding reported that a man had either been passed out or asleep in a vehicle in the parking lot for hours. Since the employee was working alone, they were unable to go check on him.

When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered the man was sleeping. Officers advised him to leave the area.

At 3 pm, employees of the Family Dollar on Gallia reported that a customer who had been barred from the store was causing a disturbance.

Officers said the woman was uncooperative and refused to sign a form acknowledging she’d been barred from the property, however she did agree to leave the store.
