Bad Neighbor Hits Car – Takes Off
Portsmouth Officers responded to Wayne Avenue after a woman reported her neighbor hit her car and left the scene.
When police spoke to the man, he said he had only bumped into the rear of the parked vehicle and didn’t think he’d caused any damage.
He told police he was insured but didn’t have the insurance card on him. Officers issued him a citation and took information for a crash report.
The next day, the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office responded to a similar incident in West Portsmouth. A woman said her neighbor hit her car and left the scene. An officer spoke with the driver, who agreed to exchange insurance information with the owner of the damaged vehicle and settle matters between themselves.
However, the woman called back after the officer left to say the person who hit her car told her he would not give her any information. When the officer returned, the man supplied the information.
