Bloody Bar Fight on Chillicothe

Portsmouth, Ohio officers responded to a bloody bar fight on Chillicothe Street and a pair of sound sleepers caused a panic. We break down the highlights from the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Report.

Fight Near Frank N Steins

Officers responded to a report of a fight outside Frank N Steins just after 1 am.

They found a man bleeding from the nose.  The guy claimed he was sucker-punched. He did not wish to make a report.

A woman on the scene said the assailant came into the bar causing a disturbance and cussing. She said the guy threw a beer on another woman and hit her in the face.  The woman told officers the bar turned on the suspect and she tried to push him out of the bar for his own safety.

She said the man then punched her in the jaw. She also did not want to make a report.

Domestic Situation

Police responded to a Thomas Avenue apartment for a domestic call at 2:26 am.  The caller reported a woman and man fighting and a woman screaming for help.

Officers took the man into custody.

Under The Influence

Catch and Release

Officers picked up a man for multiple warrants at 9:37 am. One of the warrants was for a felony. However, the Scioto County Jail refused to accept the man.

The jail told police to tell the man to report to his probation officer.

Child In Danger?

A woman showed up at the Sciotoville Fire Department with someone else’s child. The woman claimed the boy had been abused.

Police spoke with the woman, the child, and the child’s mom. Officers said the child appeared to be fine and he was just angry. His mother disciplined him over a fight with his siblings about Nerf guns and he was mad about being grounded. Police sent the child home with his mom.

Hey! That’s My Stuff

A Farney Avenue caller reported that her ex-boyfriend took her car and refuses to return it just after 1 pm.  Officers took information for a report.

A man reported a crime that sounds a bit like a sad country song just before 3 pm. He said he just got out of prison and his wife has his stimulus check but won’t give it to him.

Just Sleeping

A worried landlord contacted police after he went into an 8th Street residence just before 4 pm.  to check on tenants who haven’t been responding to him.

He found the woman lying sideways in a recliner and non-responsive.

Fortunately, the woman and man who lived in the home were just asleep. They did not require medical attention.

Upset In The Cold

At 10:37 pm, police responded to 14th Street for a report of a man pacing back and forth outside in a light jacket for about an hour.

An officer suggested he go inside but the man continued to pace. The officer managed to locate a relative of the man nearby. The relative said the man recently lost custody of his children.

The officer attempted to convince the man to go inside before he got frostbite. He agreed to go inside and his relative said he would look after him.
