Body Count Rises in Animal Hoarding Horror House

Sources tell Scioto County Daily News that the number of dead animals found in a home on the Scioto Trail has risen to over 100 and that the animals were stored in plastic totes, echoing another animal cruelty case in the two women who lived in the home were charged in 12 years ago.

Portsmouth Police, Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies, and animal rescue workers saved 35 living animals including cats, dogs, and a bird, all in horrible health from the feces-encrusted home on the Scioto Trail earlier this week. This intervention came after months of neighbors complaining about the conditions in the home.

Shocking photos showed a home strewn with animal feces and trash as well as deceased animals stowed away in plastic totes like holiday decorations.

Rescue workers tell us the animals rescued from the house are in bad shape and some appear to never have been outside the disgusting home before.

Two women lived in the home. One slept on the front porch while the other lived out of her car.  The elderly woman living in her car was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

A source involved in this investigation told SCDN, “I just have to say the people who have helped with this are amazing. The Wardens, Deputies, PPD, and the staff at Sierras. We can’t UNSEE what we’ve seen in the last two days. RIP to the many found today. We are so sad.”

No word yet on what charges the residents could face this time. SCDN is told that the totality of the charges is being considered and could be sent to the Grand Jury.

The pair were due in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Friday, but court records did not reveal any information about their hearing.
