Body Discovered on Gallia Pike

A worried landlord contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office just after 9 am to report she had not heard from a tenant in a couple of weeks, so she sent her husband to check on him. 

Tragically, the husband discovered the man dead in the home. Deputies responded to the scene and contacted the coroner.

The coroner dispatched transport to the scene to take custody of the deceased. 

Robbery Reported on Gallia Street

Just before 8:30 am, a Speedway employee called the police to report that a man came into the store and said he’d been robbed.

Officers responded to the scene and took information for a theft report. 

Shoplifter Stuff Pockets at the Family Dollar

A shoplifter stuffed his pockets at the Family Dollar just after 1 pm. Officers responded to a report of a man in a hoodie opening up packages and putting the items into his pockets.

Police detained the man. The store served him with a no-trespass order. 

Truck Break-In at the Holiday Inn

A guest at the Portsmouth Holiday Inn contacted officers to report a vehicle break-in at 7:32 am. 

He said while he was sleeping, someone broke into his truck and stole tools. Police took information for a report. 

Another report of a break-in came in just before 10 am. Daphne’s Home & Garden Center on Washington Street reported someone broke into the business.

An officer went to check the open door of the basement and reviewed security footage.
