Bold Crooks Break Into Police Impound Lot

You can’t accuse the local criminal population of being timid souls. Someone went as far as to break into the police impound lot on Mary Ann Street.

Just before 1 am, Portsmouth Police received a report that a door was open on a vehicle and it appeared the fence had been cut again. Folks cutting the fence in order to get into the lot has been a reoccurring problem.

When officers arrived on the scene, they didn’t find anyone on the lot. However, the door to an impounded black Cadillac SUV was open.

An officer also discovered that a hole on the south side of the lot’s fence, which had previously been secured with a pair of plastic handcuffs, was now open again.

An officer noted the bottom handcuff was cut and the vegetation around the fence had been disturbed.
