Employees of Wheelersburg Kroger contacted officers at 4:15 p.m. to report they’d spotted a shoplifter putting alcohol in his backpack and leaving the store.
He was long gone by the time officers got there, but employees said they would call back if he returned.
Another sticky-fingered individual hit a Wheelersburg business the next day. The owner of Simply M Boutiques said a shirtless man stole jewelry and took off in the direction of McDonald’s. The owner said the man comes into the shop frequently.
Officers searched the area but couldn’t find him. They later received a tip that he was at Big Lots. Deputies detained him and recovered the stolen items.
