Breaking This Hour: Man Screams At Police Station Pursuit Ensues.

The police received a report of a male in a red four-door vehicle leaving the popular local restaurant and bar Patties and Pints at about 8 p.m. on Friday.

He then proceeded toward the police department. It was reported that his flashers were on and he was swerving. At one point it’s said that he was outside of the vehicle and screaming. Dispatch told officers “Something’s going on with him.”

Police were informed of the location of the vehicle by a good samaritan who carefully monitored the driver. After passing Shawnee State University on Gay Street, the diver headed northbound.

The suspect vehicle was found on Gay Street near Tracy Park by Portsmouth police.

The suspect was identified as David Lavey age 40. According to reports, he has an outstanding warrant. There were also concerns about the current status of his driving privileges.

Lavey has 7 previous arrests. Those charges included: Domestic Violence, Breaking and Entering, DUI, Driving Under Suspension multiple times, Probation Violation and Failure to Appear.

In addition to impounding the vehicle, the open warrant was confirmed to be active.

Lavey complained of back pain and requested EMS. He also refused to cooperate with police until he had legal representation.

The EMS service arrived to tend to Lavey’s health concerns.

After a medical evaluation, he was transported to the Scioto County Jail.
