Officers responded to an Otway home after a report of a bloody brawl between brothers.
Just before 3 pm, 9-1-1 got multiple hangup calls with people screaming and fighting in the background.
When dispatch called back to the number the calls originated from, a woman told them her son came into her residence, took her vehicle, returned it, and was now fighting with his brother.
When officers arrived on the scene, the man had left. They learned the man was arguing with his brother, and the brother shot a gun into a rock. A bullet went into the man’s foot, and he was bleeding profusely before he left the scene.
The victim had an open warrant from another county, which is possibly why he left. Deputies contacted SOMC and told them to call them if the man came for treatment. Officers took the gun into custody for evidence and detained the brother who fired the shot.
When officers caught up with the other brother, they discovered he had a small laceration on his leg, but he refused to press charges or give police any kind of statement.
Officers dropped him off with a friend who planned to take him to the hospital for treatment and returned the weapon to his brother.
