Busy Day in Scioto County: First Responders on Their Toes

Emergency services in Scioto County, Ohio faced a wide variety of calls ranging from domestic complaints to traffic incidents and medical emergencies. While the Scioto County Sheriff's Office purposely scuddled their reporting program earlier this year to stop providing detailed daily call logs to Scioto County Daily News, limiting the depth of coverage, we remain committed to sharing all available information with our community. EMS & Fire Responses: Medical Emergencies and Accidents The day saw numerous medical calls requiring emergency squad response. Several incidents involved transports to local medical facilities such as SOMC Urgent Care and King's Daughter’s Family Care Center, alongside some where transport was not needed. Emergency medical calls came from locations including Jenkins Lane, Gallia Pike, Blue Run Township Road, Fairview Avenue, and Big Bear Creek Road. There were two reported injury accidents—one on Galena Pike and another on Cramer Road. Fire department activity centered around alarm drops, with false alarms reported at locations such as Hogan Street, Northwood Street, and Harbor View Drive. A few alarm drop calls were investigated but found to be either canceled or false. Crime and Police Activity: Suspicious Persons, Domestic Complaints, and Traffic Enforcement Law enforcement responded to a variety of calls including suspicious person reports, domestic complaints, and traffic offenses. Domestic complaints were reported from several streets including Vernon Street, Camp Street, Briar Patch on State Route 104, and a few other locations. Suspicious persons were reported around Little Cheryl Drive, Shady Brook Lane, Center Street near Kentucky Farmers Bank, and other sites. Traffic enforcement was active with multiple warnings issued on Gallia Street, 12th Street, Rhodes Avenue, and near the Glockner Honda Toyota dealership on US Highway 23. Officers investigated alarms, prowler reports, and threats or harassment at the Wheelersburg Pool. Civil process activities and reports were filed, including at the Scioto County Jail and other locations. Locations with High Activity Several hotspots saw concentrated activity: The US Highway 23 corridor (including the Super 8 area) attracted both narcotics complaints and suspicious vehicle investigations. Ohio River Road was the scene of multiple medical emergency transports. Gallia Street featured both accident reports and multiple traffic warnings. Scioto County Jail remained busy with prisoner transport and reports filed. Though we no longer receive the full detailed daily call logs from the Sheriff's Office, Scioto County Daily News is dedicated to transparency and will continue reporting all available information to keep our community informed about local safety and emergency services.
