Call for Help Leads Deputies to Injured Woman in West Portsmouth

A welfare check in West Portsmouth turned serious after deputies found a woman with a head injury, prompting a medical response and further investigation.

Scioto County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched after a caller reported a woman had sent him photos showing she had been assaulted.

The caller did not have an address but told dispatch he was concerned for her safety and said he had been warned not to come himself because she feared the man involved might be armed.

Using information from previous calls, dispatchers were able to identify a possible location tied to the situation and directed deputies to the area.

When deputies arrived, they located the woman and observed she had an open laceration on her head.

An ambulance was called to the scene, and she was transported for medical treatment.

Deputies also responded to the hospital to gather additional information and evidence as part of the investigation.

The case remains under investigation.
