Carlos Rodney “Shorty” Potts, 81, of New Boston, passed away Monday, May 2, 2022, at the SOMC Hospice Center. He was born November 26, 1940, in New Boston, a son of the late Charlotte “Chic” Henrietta Smith Cassidy and Carlos Leonard Potts.
A former long-haul truck driver, Carlos was an avid bowler and former member of the “Saturday Night Better Halves” league.
Surviving is his wife, Jeanna Kay Hall Potts, whom he married in New Boston in 1974; ten children, Deanna Kay (Tim) Poole of New Boston, Joslyn Kim Potts of New Boston, Tima McKinney of Virginia Beach, VA, Rhonda Dorr of Fleming Island, FL, Belinda Andary of Forest, VA, Kathy Rantanen of Norfolk, VA, Janet Lederman of Noblesville, IN, Paula Cropper of Portsmouth, Carlos R. Potts II of Cincinnati and Karl Potts of Oak Grove, KY; a brother, Harold “Joe” Potts of Jackson; two sisters, Sandy Cook of Fredericktown, MO and Stella Cooper of New Boston; and many grandchildren and their families, including special grandchildren, Tasha and Cody Poole; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
In addition to his parents, Carlos was preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles “Chuck” Cassidy; stepmother, Helen King Potts; and siblings, George S. Potts, Gary Potts, Larry “Butch” Potts, Wanda Potts, and Pam Warner.
Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Wednesday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Gary W. Heimbach officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
