Carolyn Sue ‘Susie’ Martin, 77, of Portsmouth, passed away at her home on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, with her husband at her side. Susie was born on October 12, 1947, in Minford, the daughter of the late Raymond and Anna Bernice ‘Bertie’ Conley Keeton.
Susie worked as a switch worker for the former GTE for 30 years and was a 1965 graduate of Valley High School. She made many beautiful and treasured quilts for her family, and she enjoyed playing tennis and was a USTA Kentucky Champion team member. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and her beloved grandchildren.
On March 16, 1999, Susie married Timothy ‘Tim’ Dean Martin in Maui, HI, and they have enjoyed 26 years together. Both were very active in the former Wheelersburg Chapter of Easter Star where Susie served as Worthy Matron.
Also surviving are her son, Jason (Heather) Eddy of Lebanon; two stepdaughters, Kimberly (Chad) Snyder of Lancaster, and Teri (Jon Narm) Martin of Portsmouth; sister, Linda ‘Lynn’ (Jim) Sedall of Oshkosh, WI; brother-in-law Richard (Betty) Martin of Chesapeake, VA; six grandchildren, Henry Synder, Emma Snyder, Hanah Martin, Joseph Gallagher, Kai Plummer and Rian Eddy; a great-granddaughter, Emily Jo; and many nieces, nephews, and their families, whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, Susie was preceded in death by her stepson, Ryan Martin; five siblings who died as infants; a brother, Paul (Alberta) Keeton; and a sister, Delores ‘Dee’ (Willie) Justice.
The family will receive friends at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 5 to 7 P.M.
Graveside services will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Dennis Evans officiating. Those who wish to attend should gather at the funeral home by 10:15 A.M.
