Cat Fight Turns Into Fight Threats

Cat fight

Portsmouth police were called to 16th Street after a dispute over a cat allegedly turned into threats between neighbors.

The caller told police a woman came down and threatened to beat her up.

According to the log, the bad blood started after one woman accused the other of stealing a cat. The issue had apparently already gone to court the day before.

Officers spoke with both women.

One woman said the other challenged her to a fight and claimed she was constantly coming near her apartment building, yelling and making threats.

The other woman said the complaints went both ways and claimed her neighbor was regularly walking by her apartment making threats, including comments about getting her evicted and challenging her to fight.

Police advised both women to stay away from each other.

Officers also explained the protection order process.

No report was taken, and no arrest was listed.

Sometimes a neighbor dispute starts with noise, parking, trash cans, or property lines.

This one apparently started with a cat.
