From the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing
Hey, That’s My Stuff!
- A Mabert Road caller contacted police just before 4 am to report a man with a mohawk stole her bike and took south on Mabert.
- At 7 am, a maintenance worker at Greenlawn Cemetery discovered someone cut a catalytic converter off a maintenance truck.
- Just after noon, another catalytic convertor thief hit the Berean Baptist Church. They were unable to finish the job but did manage to damage the van. The thief left a headlamp behind.
- A High Street caller reported a purse and phone stolen from a vehicle just before 1 pm.
- An 11th Street resident reported tags stolen from a car at 1:34 pm.
Under The Influence
- At 4:32 am, a caller reported someone passed out on the steps across from the Sixth Street Carryout. The woman told police she would pick up her trash and move on.
- A Eunice Avenue caller reported he woke to find a man peeking in his window and a woman passed out in the driveway at 5:15 am. It turned out another woman had permitted the woman to sleep in the driveway.
- Just after 2:30 pm, a caller reported a woman lying under a tree on 17th Street who had apparently OD’d. By the time police arrived, she had left.
- Worried family members asked police to check on the welfare of a High Street Woman at 4:30 pm. The family had not heard from her in nearly a month and was told she had overdosed earlier in the month. Police said no one was home.
- Officers responded to 17th Street for a report of a man not breathing in a vehicle after an overdose. PFD transported him to the hospital.
Suspicious Behavior
Police were called to Long John Silver’s on Gallia for a report of a woman sitting in the drive-thru. The woman told police she was picking up used cigarettes.
