Cecil Earl Carpenter, 97, went to be with our Lord and Savior Monday, December 16, 2024 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He passed peacefully in his sleep. He was born December 4, 1927 in Wilkesville, Ohio, a son of the late George Britton and Alice (Monroe) Carpenter. Cecil was the loving husband of the late Rita Carpenter for over 70 years and a longtime resident of Minford Ohio. He and Rita moved from Vinton, Ohio in 1970 where he worked as an Ohio State Patrolman.
Cecil was a member of the High Praises Church of God. Those who knew him knew he was a faithful prayer warrior and a vigilant upholder of all that was right. He welcomed everyone he met with a firm handshake and smile. He always offered a prayer and to tell you about his savior before you left him. Cecil was stern in his beliefs, but soft in his approach and exuded an air of confidence and humility. He was proud of his family and never shied away of speaking about his salvation.
He was the proud father to his four children, Cathleen (Tim-deceased) Mathis, Jeffrey (Cheryl) Carpenter, Christina (Rick) Compton, and Julie (Scott) Maxfield, pawpaw to his grandchildren (11), great grandchildren (22), and great-great grandchildren (2). Cecil will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 20, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the service starting at 7:00 p.m. with Samuel Salyers and Dean Thompson officiating at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Online condolences may be sent to www.dafh.com.
